What Can I do as a Civil Engineer in Pakistan?
Pre-engineering FSc
students have a ton of study options when it comes to deciding which field to
pursue in the bachelor’s degree in Pakistan. However, it can get confusing when
trying to figure out which engineering field has the best job opportunities.
Civil engineering is one such popular field in Pakistan.
What is Civil
Engineering?
Civil engineering deals
with the design, construction, supervision, and maintenance of the physical and
naturally built environment. Civil engineers are heavily involved in the design
and construction of infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, airports,
pipelines, buildings, etc…
Civil engineers require
knowledge of pure science subjects such as physics and chemistry, as well as
mathematics, statistics, technology, etc… Strong calculation and numeric skills
are necessary for this field, so mathematics is strongly required. Hence,
pre-engineering FSc students are considered to be good candidates for applying
to a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
There are many
specializations within the field of civil engineering. Some of the most popular
specializations internationally are:
- Water Resource Engineering
- Construction Management
- Civil Engineering Consultant
- Environmental Engineering
- Structural Engineering
Civil Engineering Scope
in Pakistan
This is one of the
oldest fields of engineering. This field has also experienced a steady increase
in demand over the years. Civil engineers hold significant value due to their
contributions to the development of society. Moreover, the expertise of civil
engineers is always required when it comes to the development, management,
construction, and maintenance of infrastructure projects. Thus, the demand for

future.
Many universities in
Pakistan offers a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, including UET, NUST,
etc… Pre-engineering FSc students are eligible to apply for a Bachelor’s degree
in this program, after passing the intermediate exams. Pre-engineering FSc
students are easily able to study in this program due to their knowledge base
in science and mathematics.
Upon graduating,
undergraduate students of civil engineering have the option to enter the job
market and explore a diverse range of career opportunities, or to pursue
further specialization in this field.
