How to Prepare for CA After FSc in Pre-Medical

Chartered accountancy (CA) has become an increasingly popular choice for intermediate students to pursue after the completion of their board exams. This is because chartered accounting is considered to be a well-paying and highly respected profession in Pakistan, as well as internationally.
What is Chartered Accountancy?
Chartered Accountancy (CA) is the official designation to become a professional accountant. It leads to careers in business and accounting, taxation, auditing, finance, etc… Knowledge of accounting principles are used in order to perform a wide range of accounting and financial responsibilities, in both the private and public sector.

Can Pre-medical Students Apply for CA?
Many intermediate students wonder whether they are eligible to apply for CA after completing their FSc in pre-medical. The short answer is yes. The prerequisite for applying for CA in Pakistan is at least 50% pass in HSSC. This means that if you have at least 50% pass in either FSc pre-medical or pre-engineering, you are eligible to apply.

However, intermediate students with a background in science subjects will be required to put in extra effort in order to learn the basics and improve their mathematics skills, as CA is vastly different than the subjects studied in FSc pre-medical.
How to Prepare for CA After Pre-medical
Here is how to prepare for chartered accountancy certification after completing your FSc in pre-medical.
Mathematics and Calculation Skills
Chartered accountants deal with numbers and calculations. Hence, if you are interested in joining this field, you will need to brush up on your basic numeric skills. Mathematics is not a required subject in pre-medical, so you will need to put in the effort to practice and recall mathematics.
Analytical Skills
Many intermediate students get through their board exams through rote learning or “ratta”. This will not work if you want to become a chartered accountant. This is because the exams for CA are conceptual. Not only that, but the entire profession requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Hence, you must develop your analytical skills.
Communication Skills
Despite the common misconception that CA’s are monotone and robotic individuals, they actually require strong communication skills, in order to deal with clients and provide consulting and advisory services. Hence, as an intermediate student interested in becoming a CA, you must improve your speaking, listening, and writing skills.

Basic Accounting Principles
The field of accounting is based on a set of unchanging principles. You will be taught the principles of accounting when you enroll in a CA program. However, in order to get ahead, you should read up on the basic accounting principles and commerce fundamentals. Since you have no background of business as a pre-medical student, this will give you a good idea of the program before you begin.
